SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sent information to church leaders to counsel them on how to prevent, identify and respond to abuse.

The Church says it sent a letter and resource document to leaders in United States and Canada. The Church says the document includes an updated version of guidelines first issued in 2008.

This directive comes amid recent allegations of sexual assault by former Missionary Training Center president Joseph Bishop.

If you or someone you know needs help, call the toll-free Statewide 24-hour Sexual Violence Crisis and Information Hotline at Rape & Sexual Assault Crisis Line 1-888-421-1100.
