SOUTH SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Utah News) – South Salt Lake Police say they are investigating the fatal shooting of a 69 year old male suspect.
No arrests have been made, police detectives worked hard all night on Friday into Saturday, processing the crime scene and conducting interviews.
Executive Officer Gary Keller says, police were dispatched to the area of 3730 South 200 East after several 911 calls.
What they know so far is that a 37 year old resident told them he heard a noise in his backyard. When he went to investigate, he was confronted by the suspect who was brandishing a knife.
The conflict escalated quickly and the suspect was shot and later pronounced dead at the scene. No names are available at this time.
The homeowner is cooperating with police and was one of the first to call 911 about the situation.
