SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Utah) – John Williams’ family doesn’t want his accused murderer out of jail.
Williams’ body was found inside his home after it was set on fire. Williams was the co-founder and president of the Gastronomy chain restaurants in Utah.
His former husband, Craig Crawford is facing murder charges for Williams’ death.
“It’s been horrific and a nightmare for our whole family,” said Williams’ niece Laura Forsgren.
She and other family members as well as friends attended Crawford’s latest court appearance Monday.
Crawford’s been in the Salt Lake County jail with no chance at bail.
Monday, his attorney requested a bond hearing which could set the stage for his release. It’s a moved opposed by prosecutors and Williams’ family.
“We think he’s a very dangerous person and we’re hoping there is no bail,” said
The judge plans a future date for a bail hearing meaning for now, Crawford’s will remain in jail.
“Justice for our amazing uncle, brother and friend,” said Forsgren. “He was just an amazing family man and he just contributed so much to our community and even more to our family and it’s just been horrific for everybody.”
Crawford is facing aggravated murder charges. It makes the case death penalty eligible but the Salt Lake District attorney has yet to decide if it will seek the death penalty.
