Famed French Restaurant Pays Tribute To Victims Of Nice Attack

SANDY (ABC4 Utah News) – The shock and grief of Thursday’s deadly truck attack in Nice was felt around the world, including at a famed French restaurant in Sandy.

La Caille and its grounds have the look and the feel of a little bit of France here in Utah. On Thursday night their annual Bastille Day celebration included a musical tribute to the victims in Nice.

Marielle Cossairt, the Senior Events Manager at La Caille, explained.

“Unfortunately we did hear about the attack today so our plans did change slightly,” Cossairt told ABC4 Utah News. “We did still want to continue the celebration in honor of those that passed and were injured in France so we still continued the night and we just did a moment of silence on their behalf. Jason Lyle Black has a gorgeous song he wrote that it is about prayer and it is about recovery so we just did the moment of silence before then and he went ahead and played that with his violinist Gabriel and it was just really nice.”

Marielle says the difficulty of these situations is balancing an appropriate tribute to the victims with conveying the celebration and joy that is France.
