New SLAC play brings skills from the soccer field to the stage

SALT LAKE CITY (News4Utah)- Soccer practice before play rehearsal? That was the norm for the cast of THE WOLVES, the latest production at Salt Lake Acting Company.

Set on an indoor soccer field, THE WOLVES chronicles the warm-ups of a teenage girls’ soccer team, with all the physical, mental, and emotional waves that come along with being a young female athlete.

Director Alexandra Harbold and some members of the cast joined us in studio on Thursday to discuss the play written by Sarah DeLappe.

“She’s written a very choreographic show in that it’s paying attention to skill, agility and movement–real athleticism on the field, on stage,” Harbold said.

In preparation for the production cast members said they would have 9 a.m. soccer drills during the summer.

See the skills they honed in on as well as the emotional waves that come along with being a female athlete in the show now through November 11th.
