A film made by three local filmmakers makes its broadcast debut on Thursday.
Quiet Heroes explores the AIDS crisis in Salt Lake City, and how two medical professionals stood up in the face of adversity to treat the patients no one else would.
In Salt Lake City, Utah, the socially conservative religious monoculture complicated the AIDS crisis, where patients in the entire state and intermountain region relied on only one doctor, Dr. Kristen Ries. Quiet Heroes is the story of her fight – against stigma, shame and ignorance – to save a maligned population everyone else seemed willing to just let die.
The film had its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
As part of the three-time Emmy Award-winning Logo Documentary Films, Quiet Heroes will make its broadcast debut on August 23rd at 8/7c.
