For most the part, fans dressing up as their favorite characters–or cosplaying– at comic conventions have a good time, but many cosplayers will admit there is also a dark side to the cosplay community. Stories about cosplayers being harassed or being made to feel uncomfortable are all too common at conventions. That’s why the people in costume at Salt Lake Comic Con 2016 were happy to see signs reading “Cosplay Is Not Consent,” addressing the treatment of cosplayers. The Fandom 4um spoke to cosplayers at Salt Lake Comic Con about the issue of harassment and what’s being done about it.
