PROVO, Utah (News4Utah) – A man charged with numerous crimes against children made his first court appearance Wednesday.

Johnathon Nixon faces dozens of charges for allegedly sexually abusing three children at his Eagle Mountain apartment.

According to court documents, the children range in age from 4 years to 7 years old.

Nixon is on Utah’s sex offender list for a similar crime in 2005.

But in charging documents related to this case, Nixon admitted to hosting “sleepovers for young girls and not telling their parents about (being) a registered sex offender.”

He told police the (victim) would not just make up a story like this out of nowhere.”

Prosecutors charged Nixon with 37 felony counts include rape, sodomy and lewdness.

“Any time you have a confession or an omission to one’s case it is strong evidence in the case,” said Curtis Larson, deputy Utah County attorney.  “To my knowledge, he opened up to other crimes.”

Nixon was appointed an attorney and the judge ordered him back in court May 29th.

He remains in the Utah County Jail.
