SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – There was a rally downtown, today, in support of law officers.

There have been so many ‘black lives matter’ rallies to protest police shootings. Organizers called today’s support rally “blue lives matter” to let people know the ultimate sacrifice some officers have made.

Erika Barney was there with her son jack.  Her husband Doug, a Unified Police officer, was shot to death in January in Holladay. She says, “It means a lot to have so many people come out today and show their support and as we were waiting there getting ready to start, all of the police officers that went by honked and sounded their sirens to show their appreciation for us having gathered. It was really fun.”

They gave her a special flag in honor of her husband. The group marched from the federal building to the salt lake police station.
