Update (1:55 p.m.):
PRESCOTT, AR – A building dating back more than 100 years has been destroyed by fire in downtown Prescott.
It was the old Prescott Hardware Company on Elm Street that went up in flames overnight.
According to the Nevada County Picayune-Times, a police officer discovered the fire shortly after 12:30 Tuesday morning that burned much of the 100 block of Elm.
All that remains of the building today is a smoldering facade surrounded by piles of bricks.
There’s no word yet on what started the fire.

PRESCOTT, AR – An overnight fire in downtown Prescott has destroyed at least one building.
The Nevada County Picayune-Times posted a photo early Tuesday morning of the fire on its Facebook page and stated “The fire department is trying to save the Picayune.”
In a phone call to the Prescott Police Department, we were told the fire broke out around midnight Tuesday at the old hardware building on Elm Street.
There was reportedly nothing inside the abandoned building.
Firefighters were able to save at least one business (Teague Eye Clinic) but the fate of the Picayune-Times is not yet known.
