SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) An ammonia leak at a meat packing facility has shut down 500 south between 700 and 800 East Sunday morning. 

Salt Lake City Fire Captain Davin Halvorsen said the incident started around 11:30 a.m. when crews were called to the area on reports of a smell of ammonia. 

Hazmat and crews with the fire department are currently working to contain the leak that has been identified as coming from a refrigeration system inside a meat packing facility in the area.
