LOGAN, Utah (ABC4 Sports) – The Aggie onslaught continues.

Jordan Love completed 32 of 42 passes for a career-high 491 yards and tied a school record with 5 touchdowns, all in less than three quarters of work, as #14 Utah State rolled to its 9th straight victory, blasting San Jose State, 62-24.

“Offensively today, I think it was just a dominant game on both sides of the ball,” Love said. “We had some drives that were a little shaky, but all around, it was just a really good game. We were moving the ball both running and passing, and everybody just had a really good game. It just shows that when you got all these weapons around me, it’s hard not to score points like this.”

“The high level of preparation to continue to do it at a high level is something to be said for that,” head coach Matt Wells said. “A lot of teams get tired this time of the year. They get physically tired and mentally tired, and our guys continued to drink the Kool-Aid a little bit. They  keep buying in.”

Darwin Thompson had 140 yards rushing and touchdown, to go along with 115 yards receiving and two more scores.

Utah State racked up a school record 804 yards of total offense. The Aggies had 510 yards of passing offense and 294 yards on the ground.

After falling behind 7-0 on a botched punt that was returned for a touchdown, Utah State then outscored the Spartans 38-3 the rest of the first half to take a commanding lead.

In addition to his two touchdown passes to Thompson, Love also threw scoring passes to Gerold Bright, Jalen Greene and Jordan Nathan.

This is the sixth time this season in which Utah State has scored 50 or more points.

With the victory, Utah State improves to 9-1 on the year, 6-0 in the Mountain West Conference, and the Aggies maintain their one-game lead over Boise State in the Mountain Division.

“The brotherhood and the camaraderie with those guys is pretty special right now,” Wells said. “I’m just happy that we were able to send our seniors out the right way and get a win. We go 6-0 at Maverik Stadium and that’s something that was a goal of ours at the beginning of the year and it what something that we talked about.”

Utah State next plays at Colorado State next Saturday. It the Aggies beat the Rams and Boise State in their season finale, they will host the Mountain West Championship Game.
