SANDY, Utah (ABC4) – A five-year-old Sandy child who was struck and killed by a USPS truck on Tuesday has now been identified.
Sandy Police say Kate Peterson, 5, is the victim of the fatal collision.
Officers have identified the USPS driver as Steven Baldwin. Authorities say Baldwin has been cooperative throughout the investigation.
“Our heart goes out to all involved with this tragic incident,” says Sandy Police.
No further details have been released at this time.

SANDY, Utah (ABC4) – A child has been killed after an auto-ped crash in Sandy on Tuesday.
Sandy Police say the victim is a 5-year-old child. Their identity has not been released at this time.
Authorities say the fatal crash involves a USPS mail truck. The crash happened near the 9300 block of Blossomwood Cir in Sandy.
The USPS driver has remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
“The Sandy Police are currently investigating this heartbreaking and tragic situation. They will receive the full cooperation of the United States Postal Service.”
Officers are investigating the deadly incident and are looking into the events leading up to the collision.
Sandy Police says neither speed nor impairment are being considered as contributing factors at this time.
