3 arrested following officer-involved shooting in Parowan

PAROWAN, Utah (News4Utah) – Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Parowan Thursday.

It happened around 11:30 a.m.

Emergency dispatch received a call about a burglary in progress. The caller reported a man and woman were breaking into cars at the Parowan Travel America near 1150 North 100 West.

Officers from the Parowan Police Department, Enoch Police Department, and Iron County Sheriff’s Office responded. 

When they arrived, officers confronted the man and the woman. Police said that’s when an altercation ensued, and shots were fired by one of the officers.

The injured woman, identified as Ivonne Casimiro, was taken to Cedar City Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Once she was released from the hospital, she was charged with possession of stolen vehicle, burglary of a vehicle, failure to comply and assault on police officer. 

The man, identified as Jose Flores, 34, of Nevada, was booked on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and vehicle burglary. 

Michael Salvador Torres, 24, of Nevada, who police said was only involved in the burglaries was caught later that evening and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and vehicle burglary. 

No officers were injured in the incident. The Iron County Critical Incident Task Fork was called out to investigate the shooting.
