SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- Salt Lake Fire crews put out a 3-alarm blaze at a boutique Monday morning.
It happened at the Kitoko Boutique at 1375 South Main Street just after 6:30 a.m.
Jasen Asay with Salt Lake Fire Department said the crews faced a couple of difficulties during the fight.
“Because this is a boutique there were a lot of mannequins laying around. So as our firefighters were doing their search to make sure there weren’t any people inside, they would come across a mannequin and worry that it was a person.”
Another difficultly Asay said they faced was the location of the fire. “The fire was located in an area that was difficult to get access to,” he said.
Crews found the source on the second floor after working their way through some dead ends.
“When our firefighters were first in there it didn’t appear there was a second floor. They thought the fire was up in the attic. Once they made access up there, they found that there had once been living quarters and that there was stairs coming down.”
The cause of the fire has not been released.
