April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Mary Lucero, Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse Utah, explained their national symbol, the pinwheel.

Prevent Child Abuse Utah recognizes a bright and happy childhood through their Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign that takes place every April. You can help show your support by purchasing a pinwheel from their office or website to plant in front of your own home or business. This act will spread awareness and help Utah fight the plague of child abuse. Together, we can create a better world for Utah’s children.

The organization is having their first ever ADOPTASCHOOL Fundraiser. For $2,500, a business or individual can adopt a school in Utah, allowing prevention specialists from Prevent Child Abuse Utah to provide body safety & abuse prevention programs for the students, as well as a fun pinwheel garden for the month of April.

Their School Prevention Programs are offered to preschool through twelfth grade. The programs focus on body safety and body autonomy by focusing on four types of abuse: physical, sexual, neglectful and emotional. There is no sexual education content in their curriculum.
