How One Woman Helps the Salt Lake City Homeless

Good Things Utah

Jody Sully is the “Do the Right Thing” December winner, in partnership with Les Schwab. She was nominated by her daughter Jasmine Johnston. In her nomination, Jasmine noted Jody’s selfless acts of kindness and generosity.

The rest of the nomination read, “She runs a group on Facebook called Helping Hands, we have 102 members. She plans, organizes, and collects funds for different events many times during the last 2 and a half years. The last event we participated in was in November where we collected over 350 new/gently used blankets and passed them out to the homeless in SLC. This month we are doing a sub for Santa for a family who is less fortunate with 7 children. The next event will be in February where we will collect necessity items in backpacks for the homeless, this event happens twice a year with one in the winter and one in the summer. These are just examples of the many events she does throughout the year. She spends countless hours, time and money to help anyone in need. I have plenty of pictures of our events and would love to share. I think she deserves a pat on the back for doing the right thing. She is such an incredible humbling person overall, her personality and good natured person draws people to her. She definitely has my respect and everyone who knows her would say the same. She leaves a spirit with you that makes you want to help others as well. Way to make a difference in this world Jody Sully!”
