Deseret Industries is first and foremost a training facility. It is DI’s mission to help people who don’t have marketable skills, or who need to learn successful work habits to become prepared to enter the job market.

DI has found over the past 75-plus years that the thrift store model is a perfect vehicle for training people who need help. Brooke Yates, DI’s marketing manager, shares stories of individuals who have successfully moved on to full-time careers and lives of self-reliance.

A variety of jobs include:

  • Security detail
  • Truck driving, bus driving, delivery
  • Accounting
  • Positions in the medical field: CNA, Medical Assistant

The general public can get involved by donating items they no longer need, and by purchasing used goods at low prices. The store’s proceeds go toward training.  Everybody benefits.

DI is opening a new store in Cedar City on April 20.  It’s a relocation of the current store in Cedar City.  There’ll be a 3-day Grand Opening celebration with live music, giveaways and great deals, from April 20th through the 22nd.
