It’s contagious, and can be very dangerous. We’re talking about the flu! It can spread by droplets in the air and, with the flu shot, you can most likely avoid it!

Brooke Miller, PharmD, from Riverton Hospital Pharmacist sat down to talk about the flu shot.

According to Miller, it’s best to get a flu shot early in the season. It takes a couple of weeks after you get the shot to build up immunity. October through May is flu season. Peak for getting the flu is Dec-Feb.

Who should get a flu shot? According to Miller, “everyone who doesn’t want to get the flu should get a flu shot. Healthy people including children ages 6 months and older.” The more people who get vaccinated, the less likely the flu will spread.

If you think it’s a nuisance making an appointment, getting out of your car and going to the doctor for a shot, this might be just the thing for yoU!

You can get your flu shot without ever leaving your car! Riverton Hospital to have drive-thru flu shots available at Health Fair Sat. Oct. 13
