Hair restoration specialist, Dr. Scott Thompson, of Utah Facial Plastics, joined GTU to talk about what to consider before getting hair transplant surgery. According to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, hair transplant surgery grew 76% from 2006 to 2014 and only continues to grow in popularity.
He says this is due to various advancements in technology, the natural results, and safety of the procedure. There are three things to consider when choosing a hair transplant surgeon: Board-certification, credentials, and experience.
“Certain patients are better suited for one of the other or even a combination of procedures. At our practice, we offer FUT, FUE and PRP hair therapy,” explained Dr. Thompson.
For patients who like to wear their hair short, FUE or NeoGraft is recommended as there is no linear scar on the back of the head that would be visible. For patients who wear their hair long enough to cover the scar, the strip-method works very well and the scarring is minimal when done by an experienced surgeon who can close the incision in a way that it won’t stretch and become highly noticeable. This goes back to ensuring you choose someone with the proper credentials and experience.
Utah Facial Plastics is currently running a Father’s Day special for $750 off NeoGraft procedures. Check out their website or call for more information.
