The right way to use hot tools on your hair

In this week’s addition of GTU’s Secrets From Your Stylist, Nicea spoke with hair expert Matthew Landis about heat damage and ways to prevent it. Almost everyone uses hot tools such as blow dryers, curling irons, and straighters knowing they cause damage, but few people know there are ways to prevent or lessen the toll these tools take on hair.

Blow dryers usually come with a nozzle, and Matthew says putting it on your device can help protect hair from heat. Hair is easily burned on metal grating on the month of a blow dryer. Using the nozzle prevents that from happening. Matthew recommends only using a hot tool on hair every 3-4 days, and when one is used, make sure hair is properly protected with a product.
