Each month, the Advocates, along with Good Things Utah, are recognizing a local hero, good Samaritan and advocate for the community. This month’s Community Advocate is Hayden Eldridge. Hayden is being hailed a hero for taking a leap of faith and following his instincts in rescuing his friend, Dimitri from a house fire.
Hayden Eldridge noticed a fire alarm sounding from a nearby home in North Ogden and jumped over a fence to reach the house. Hayden opened the door and came to a smoke-filled room. That’s when he saw Dimitri’s arm. He pulled him out to safety.
Authorities commented on Hayden’s heroic actions as they mentioned Dimitri only had about 15 more seconds until his situation would have been severely critical. Dimitri’s mother, Robyn Buatte said how thankful she was of Hayden’s quick actions, as she is grateful for the rescue of her son. Hayden credits his swift instincts to previous experiences with fire alarms and video games.
Chris with the Advocates is excited to announce their first award for recognizing heroes in our community to Hayden Eldridge, complete with movie tickets and a gift certificate to Kimi’s Chop and Oyster House .
