If you are a parent and student at Southern Utah University (SUU), there’s good news for you! SUU will now be offering on campus daycare.

Janeen Golightly met up with Kathy Wyatt, wife of SUU president, who shared that most single mothers were not graduating because of having to pay for outside childcare. Kathy and her husband who lived on campus, gave up their home to turn it into a daycare which in turn she says will save the state 6 million dollars.

Shawn Chistiansen, the Dean of Education, explained that about 500 of SUU’s students are enrolled in early childhood education and the daycare will give them hands on experience working with children.

Janeen also spoke with Alayna who was a student and experienced the need for childcare too. Now graduated, she says SUU’s daycare will immensely help other parents who are students.
