When to say “I love you” in a new relationship

GTU Featured Guest

When you are in a new relationship there can be a lot of pressures from meeting the family, meeting kids, and when to say I love you. Being in love is a scary thing but knowing when to say I love you can be even scarier. It feels like it may or may not be a deal breaker.

Dr. Julie Hanks, Psychotherapist, Mental Health & Relationship Expert, is here to talk to you about when the time is right to say I love you in a new relationship. Hanks reached out to her fellow social media followers and asked for their input on this topic and here is what they suggested.

When to say “I love you” in a new relationship:

  1.  When their happiness is as important as your own
  2.  When they’ve demonstrated “I love you” actions
  3.  When you can’t help it
  4. When it feels safe enough, even if they don’t say it back
  5. When saying I “like” you feels untrue
