Viewmont High School has been providing Christmas to some of Utah’s most economically challenged elementary schools for 26 years. Viewmont works with Davis Foundation to identify the needs in Davis School District and then Viewmont students, community and local businesses get to work raising money for several weeks in November and December. The money raised allows the Viewmont student volunteers to purchase clothing, candy, toys and books for each child at the elementary school. This year, Viewmont student leaders have chosen to support Doxey Elementary, located in Davis School District. 66% of Doxey Elementary students live at or below the poverty line and many others struggle financially. Last year, Viewmont raised $76,000 which provided a special Christmas to every student at Vae View Elementary, a large donation to the Red Cross and to the Davis Foundation. This year’s goal is to continue to work hard raising money so that the Bountiful food pantry’s shelves can be stocked and to give every child at Doxey Elementary a special Christmas.
