President of the 2018 Tournament of Roses, Lance Tibbet, Westlake Band Director, Brek Mangelson and Westlake Drum Majors Caasi Smuin , Brooke Hyland and Kylie Staheli joined us to discuss the band, The Marching Thunder and its appearance in the 2018 Tournament of Rose Parade.

The Marching Thunder has been invited to participate in the 2018 Tournament of Rose Parade. This year, the tournament’s theme is “Making a Difference”.

Lance is visiting our great state to see the way we “make a difference” in Utah through music. From meeting Lt. Governor Cox and touring the Capital to experiencing Park City, he will check out all that it has to offer.

The Marching Thunder has grown from 48 members 8 years ago, to 180 today. The need for new uniforms is now a necessity. Currently, they are trying to raise 70,000 for the new uniforms. If you would like to offer a donation for the uniforms, visit  https://www.thunderband.com.
