In the past 36 years, hundreds of thousands of children worldwide have been given the chance to smile again, thanks to Operation Smile.

Dr. Bill Magee, Co-Founder and CEO and Kathy Magee, Co-Founder and President, provide free and safe surgeries for those born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial differences. For many families in low and middle income countries, early surgery may not be an option, due to lack of financial resources, qualified medical staff and other factors.

Dr. Magee and Kathy explained that it is estimated that worldwide, every 3 minutes a child is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate, but it only takes as few as 45 minutes to change a child’s life.

On Saturday, March 23rd, Operation Smile will be taking over Deer Valley Resort’s Bald Mountain for their 8th Annual Celebrity Ski & Smile Event!

Teams of five racers will compete against one another in a head-to-head dual slalom race where the best overall team score wins. Each team will consist of one celebrity skier and four amateur skiers/Operation Smile donors. The race and private dinner that evening commemorate the hundreds of thousands of surgeries performed to date that have transformed the lives of children born with cleft lip and cleft palate around the world.

In seven years, the event has hosted celebrity supporters, including Lady Gaga, Milo Ventimiglia, Kate Upton, Julianne Hough and Zachary Levi, and raised over 2.5 million dollars, thereby providing transformational surgery for over 10,000 children and young adults!

This year some of the celebrities include Wilmer Valderrama, Kate Walsh, Taylor Kinney, Brooke Burke, Darren Criss, Mike Doyle, Jay Manuel, Andrew Zimmern and more.

If you would like to take part in the race, join for dinner, or simply donate to Operation Smile, visit You can also find them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram: @OperationSmile.
