“AND JUSTICE FOR ALL” is a joint fundraising collaboration between Utah’s three primary providers of civil legal aid in Utah—Utah Legal Services, Disability Law Center and Legal Aid Society of Salt Lake. These three nonprofit providers offer free civil legal representation and programs that help people in Utah receive justice, protect their well-being and overcome poverty. People do not realize that while an attorney is guaranteed in criminal cases, no such right exists in civil cases. For people who are already living in poverty or struggling, one thing going wrong can start a downward spiral that can be difficult to reverse. Legal aid programs make it possible for these people to get the help they need to secure their dignity, protect their assets and stay safe.

Last year they were able to help over 30,000 people with their cases. These cases address some of the greatest problems our community currently faces: ending domestic violence, securing income, accessing healthcare, staying in one’s home, getting an adequate education, obtaining and keeping a job, and resolving familial conflicts. The current economic situation has led to increased demand for their service. We do this through partnering with our three main partner agencies, DLC, ULS and LAS. They are all housed at the Community Legal Center making it a streamlined and effective effort collaborative effort.

Upcoming events that help raise funds for our partnering agencies:

Law Day Run: On May 5th, 2018, come enjoy a fun run with family and friends, prizes for every division, and a little friendly competition–all while raising funds for civil legal aid programs in Utah.

Every year they welcome 1,000+ members of the legal community who support their fight for fairness. All ages are welcome, including families with strollers.
