April is Heartworm Awareness month for dogs. Temma Martin from Best Friends Animal Society explained that heartworms are only temporary and are treatable. Once treated it is not contagious to other dogs and luckily here in Utah, it is not very common for dogs to get this kind of infection.

However, there are currently six dogs being treated at Best Friends Animal Society and are waiting to be taken into a good home. The pet adoption fee has been waived for these furry friends for the entire month of April! Visit them at 2005 South 1100 East in Salt Lake City.

Temma also brought Mani, a beautiful and striking feline who is in need of a new home. He is two years old and will just melt your heart. He is very loveable, sweet and looking for someone to share the love with. Mani is currently available for adoption at Salt Lake County Animal Services located at 511 West, 3900 South in Salt Lake City.
