YCC Family Crisis Center celebrates completion of Blue Sky solar project

Good Morning Utah

OGDEN, Utah (ABC4 News) – A big donation is making it easier for the YCC Family Crisis Center in Ogden to help more victims of domestic violence, homelessness, rape and sexual assault.

The $158,599 grant, from the “Rocky Mountain Blue Sky’ project, supplied solar panels that will now power 25 percent of the shelter’s energy usage. This will help save more than $6,000, each year, on energy costs.

The YCC executive director, Julee Smith said, “Blue Sky customers have allowed us to save money and redirect those funds into better providing shelter, crisis intervention and care services.”

Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky project has provided more than $10 million to fund renewable energy projects throughout the community since 2006.
