How To Get Better at Golf

Good Morning Utah

The warmer weather means people are flocking to golf courses, and a new product can help you get ready by improving your swing. Matt Baird with Alignment Pro joined Good Morning Utah with details.

Matt is a PGA pro Instructor at Riverside Golf Country Club in Provo Utah and has been teaching golf for the past 14 years. He is the co-creator of a new product called the Alignment Pro.

“I came up with the idea 3 years ago when I stopped playing golf full-time and became a Golf Instructor.  One night while at home I was browsing the internet for good putting drills so that I could help my students.  I came across a YouTube video where a guy had 2 chairs on the putting green and a driver resting between the 2.  He was explaining how to rail your putter back and forth on the driver shaft to feel the proper straight back straight through stroke.  I was a little confused on how people were going to do this drill by dragging chairs on to the putting green.   I then said to myself  out loud ‘why don’t you just take an alignment stick and hinge the 2 ends.’  A light bulb went off in my head,” said Matt.

He then got his business partner Tyler Carson involved and met a local engineer who helped us make a prototype. One day when trying it out on the putting green local Tour Player, Zac Blair, saw the pair using it.  He loved the AP and wanted to take it with him on the road.  Since then they have been very busy producing product for other big name tour players like Jim Furyk, Patrick Reed and Tony Finau. Now with fathers day approaching, they are sharing their product with all.
