How to find great child care

Good Morning Utah

Provider Appreciation Day is coming up this May 25, making it a great time to talk about child care for summer now that school is out.

Tracy Gruber, director of the Utah Office of Child Care joined GMU to discuss how to find high-quality providers in your area. Some ideas include checking out the adult-to-child ratio, observing the program beforehand, and considering schedule and cost. As part of the celebration for Provider Appreciation Day, a proclamation signed by Governor Herbert declaring Provider Appreciation Day will be read at noon. This will mark a special day set aside to recognize child care providers, teachers and other educators of young children to thank them for their dedication, commitment and compassion.

According to the Department of Workforce Services, Office of Child Care, working parents should consider using high-quality child care providers to ensure their children are in safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate settings.
