You don’t need millions to have a serious art collection. Dr. Donna Poulton, a fine arts consultant, and Kelsey Ellis, Assistant Director of the Salt Lake Arts Council, joined GMU to talk about an upcoming workshop that aims to educate about art. The event is hosted by Salt Lake City Arts Council and funded Utah division of Arts and Museums.
Workshop topics will include techniques for creating a cohesive collection, knowing where to buy art, how to acquire it, how to tell a good work of art. The workshop will help show that the idea that collecting art is only for the well-to-do is a myth. The experts say even people on tight budgets can discover and enjoy the thrill of searching for good, even great art.
The Art Council’s next big event is the 33rd Annual Holiday Craft Market. Over 70 artists will exhibit their work at the Finch Lane Gallery from Friday, December 2 through Tuesday, December 20. The art will be things like small works of art, wood working, handwoven scarves, ceramics, glass pieces, and jewelry.
