Donut space launch, Kaysville grocer celebrates ‘National Donut Day’

KAYSVILLE, Utah (ABC4 News) – Friday is National Donut Day and Bowman’s Market is celebrating with a space launch.

A platform attached to a box, a weather balloon and an open parachute will carry a Bowman’s fresh baked donut into space. The balloon is expected to rise to a height of, “approximately 22 miles until changes in the air pressure eventually cause the balloon to burst. The parachute then takes over as the donut makes its way back to Earth,” said baker and flight director Noah Wenzel.

A camera and a global positioning system will document the mission. You can help name the donut, track the donut’s flight path at and guess where the donut will land at
