Tips and tricks to help seniors go from dreading Annual Enrollment to feeling empowered to make confident decisions about their Medicare coverage for the year ahead

For many people, there’s lots to love about the fall season: pumpkin spice everything, apple picking, the gorgeous colors of the changing leaves. But fall also means it’s time to pick our health insurance for the year ahead, which isn’t exactly something most people look forward to. One of the reasons? It can be confusing and downright overwhelming to compare all the options.

That’s especially the case for the 62 million Americans enrolled in Medicare, many of whom have dozens of plan options to consider. As a result, seniors might be tempted to ignore Medicare Annual Enrollment altogether and just stick with their current plan, but that could put them at risk of missing out on important benefits or getting caught off guard by unexpected costs in the year ahead.

Fortunately, with the right tools and information, seniors can go from dreading Medicare Annual Enrollment to feeling confident in their ability to make smart choices about their coverage.

Elena McFann, regional CEO of UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement, is available for interviews on Monday, Oct. 15th – the first day of the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period. Elena’s tips and tricks will help simplify the enrollment process for seniors by breaking it down into clear, easy-to-follow steps they should take to help them find coverage that will meet both their health and budget needs in 2019.
