Wesley Ruff

Wesley came to ABC4 in October of 1985, and has been going strong ever since. He started as the weekend sports reporter and weekday sports anchor. In 2002, he took over as the sports director and weekday sports anchor.

Wesley was born and raised in Springville, Utah. He graduated with honors from Springville High School, where he played basketball, golf and ran track for the Red Devils. He was captain on the basketball and track teams.

Wesley was awarded a scholarship from the Utah Golf Association, and an academic scholarship from Southern Utah State College in Cedar City (now Southern Utah University). He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in 1982.

He started his career at KFYR-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota, where he worked from 1982-1985 as the weekend sports anchor, weekday sports reporter and as the sports photographer.

Wesley has earned numerous awards for his reporting and anchoring. He has been named the Utah Sportscaster of the year as voted by his peers 5 times (1998, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008) and was named the Bill Howard Golf Citizen of the year by the Utah Section PGA three times (2000, 2006, 2017). He has also won several awards from the Society of Professional Journalists. In 2016 he was inducted in the Nebo School District Sports Hall of Fame.

Wesley is a frequent speaker and master of ceremonies for various charities and golf events. He enjoys golf, biking, golf, water skiing, golf, crossword puzzles and of course, golf. He enjoys spending time with his family, and loves being a grandpa.
