Sarah Murphy

Sarah Murphy joined the ABC4 News team in January 2023 as a Weekend Anchor and Multimedia Journalist.

Originally from Rocklin, California, Sarah began her Broadcast Journalism career in high school, where she first learned how to hold a camera, conduct an interview, edit, and report. It was there that she decided she wanted to work in the news.

Continuing along her journalism path, Sarah moved to Utah and began her college career at Utah State University in 2017. While there, Sarah worked as an Anchor, Reporter, Photographer, Director, and Producer for USU’s award-winning weekly newscast, A-TV News, for four years. She won five Student Production Awards with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for her excellence in Talent and Serious or Light News Feature Reporting.

Sarah graduated from USU in December 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Criminal Justice.

While in school, Sarah spent a year and a half working as a freelance Multimedia Journalist/Reporter and Photographer in Salt Lake. She covered a range of topics, from lawsuits and homicides to puppy parties and military homecomings.

In her free time, you can find Sarah hanging out with her friends, traveling, visiting family, and continuing to explore all that Salt Lake has to offer!

Sarah is excited to cover the news in the state she has come to love over the last few years! She also wants to hear from you! If you have any story ideas or tips, you can reach out to Sarah at smurphy@abc4.com.
