Megan Pickett loves reading, songwriting, singing, watching movies, and listening to music.
It was evident early on that Megan loved writing; in elementary school, she wrote many poems, songs, and scary stories. When it was too cold to go outside for recess, she would stay in and write about the journey of an object; an apple’s thoughts as it went from a tree to the store, to a house, to a disappointing end as a core in the garbage pail.
When she was in high school, she would frequent the B.B.C. news app, to the extent that when she needed to study for exams she would delete the app so that she could focus on studying for the tests instead of scrolling through the news.
When Megan started college, she did not know what to study – that was until everyone she knew told her to study Communications or English. She started in the Communications Program, but she was quickly recruited by the Journalism faculty. She graduated from Brigham Young University in the Print and Digital track of Journalism in 2022.
After she graduated, she worked at Allbarnwood (ABW Frames) in Spanish Fork. She wrote for their website, Etsy, Facebook, and Instagram profiles. She enjoyed the writing portion and wanted to do more, so she joined our team at ABC4 news in Jan. 2023 as a digital writer.
She is a Utah native and spends her free time performing with her local band Denver & Thistle, which you can find on Instagram. When she is not writing music, she is playing card games, going roller-skating, swimming, reading new books, and spending time with her family and friends.
