SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – Jason Nguyen is ABC4’s Investigative Reporter.
He rejoined the news team where he left off with Good Morning Utah in 2019. It didn’t take long for Nguyen to begin investigating crimes, holding government officials accountable, or digging into the issues surrounding first responder’s mental health.
“I look forward to telling stories that come from the heart,” Nguyen said. “My goal is to share stories that matter to everyday people.”
Nguyen started his news career in Toledo, Ohio as an overnight photographer and editor at WTVG in 2007. He then traveled to Fort Myers, Florida, where he became an award-winning photojournalist at WINK News.
Life would take Nguyen back to his hometown in Cleveland, Ohio. His mother fought pancreatic cancer twice before it took her life.
Before she dies, Jason’s mom was able to see some of her son’s first reports on WKYC.
After his mother’s passing, Nguyen moved to Salt Lake City and joined the ABC4 Good Morning Utah team where he quickly began his award-winning reporting.
He then moved to Portland, Oregon for a short reporting stint at KATU.
Nguyen’s heart was in Salt Lake City, so he moved back to be with his girlfriend Rosie Nguyen on ABC4 News.
“I’m glad I’m back in Utah, telling stories to people who really embraced me over my career,” he said. “More importantly, I’m glad to be back with a team that cares about storytelling.”
