Garrett James

I was born and raised in Wichita Falls, Tx., which is right along the Red River that separates Oklahoma and Texas. I originally found my passion for weather at a young age, when I saw my first tornado. After that moment I became absolutely enthralled with the weather.

I would stay up late at night watching thunderstorms as they moved through the area. My passion for weather eventually led to me wanting to learn how the weather worked. I then decided to go to Texas A&M University in College Station, Tx. to pursue my Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology.

After I graduated with my degree in December of 2018, I wasted no time and started my first television job in my hometown where I stayed for a little over 4 years. During those 4 years, I covered every type of weather you can forecast. Between tornadoes and 15-plus inches of snow, I have forecast a lot.

It was also in that 4 years that I found my beautiful wife and we became engaged in August of 2021. I proposed to her in Zion National Park at the Canyon Overlook Trail. It was that trip where we both fell in love with Southern Utah and we both knew we had to come back.

In my free time, I love spending time outside. Whether it is fishing, golfing, hiking or even just sitting on the porch, I love spending any free time I have outside. Some of the popular hikes I have already done in the area include Angel’s Landing, The Narrows, and the Canyon Overlook Trail just in Zion NP and the Delicate Arch trail in Arches NP.

I look forward to forecasting and serving the great state of Utah and the surrounding areas.
