About Emily:

Emily Florez is a Utah native, Emmy nominated, award-winning journalist. Emily joined KTVX ABC 4 News in January 2019 after working at WMAQ NBC 5 Chicago. Emily covered the historical World Series title run of the Chicago Cubs, reported extensively on the crime and public issues plaguing Chicago, and was a key correspondent in the severe weather events including deadly tornados, flooding, and the unforgettable polar vortex in 2014.

Prior to her time in Chicago, Emily reported and anchored at KUTV 2 News in Salt Lake City, where she covered the trial of Elizabeth Smart’s captor Brian David Mitchell, the search for Susan Powell,  and the exoneration of Debra Brown. Emily began her career with KIDK in Idaho Falls, Idaho.  

Emily is a Brigham Young University graduate where she majored in Broadcast Journalism and helped launch the School of Communications Student Ambassador program.

She is a Utah native, wife, mother of three, and a natural health & healing enthusiast.
