Courtney Johns proudly anchors for ABC4 News at 4 p.m. and the CW30 News at 7 p.m. while nightside reporting in the evenings. She is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who fell in love with the Beehive State the first time she visited.
Courtney has worked in several markets in the Midwest, most recently in Nebraska. During her time in Nebraska, she anchored the evening news and worked on the investigative team. From potholes to puppy mills, Courtney has a passion for investigative work.
In 2021, she produced a series on a local daycare with a history of inspection issues. Shortly after reporting on some of the problems, the State Department of Health and Human Services issued an emergency closure and three people were arrested.
Courtney also led a popular franchise called “Restaurant Report Card.” Her reports shined a light on local businesses in violation of health inspection standards as well as highlighted restaurants with a spotless record, giving them the “Clean Plate Award.”
While investigative work is one of her passions, Courtney also covered unique experiences throughout the metro in a segment called “Courtney’s Corner.” This segment gave her the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and experience everything from working on a turkey farm to driving a horse carriage downtown.
Courtney grew up in Minnesota (and of course loves the snow). She started skiing when she was 2 years old and was the captain of her downhill ski racing team in high school.
From the beautiful mountains to the amazing food, the minute Courtney moved to Utah, it felt like home.
When she’s not working, she loves spending time outdoors hiking with her adorable rescue CoJo.
