Anneka Johns

Anneka is a native Utahn, born in Salt Lake City and spent her earlier years in Utah County. She grew up in Las Vegas, Nev., but moved back to Utah in 2019 to study at Utah State University. Anneka will be graduating in May 2023 with her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Multimedia Development.

While at USU, Anneka had the opportunity to work for Utah State’s Student Media as a Video Producer and helped produce and report for USU’s award-winning news program, A-TV News.

Anneka’s love and passion for news stems from her father, who spent 15 years working in the Salt Lake market. Anneka also found a passion for video creation and storytelling after gaining a large following on TikTok, a popular social media platform. Anneka spent two years creating videos centered around various pop culture themes attracting a community of over 135,000 fans before stopping and focusing on her education and journalism career.

Beyond her passion for telling stories, Anneka has a deep love for horses. Anneka has ridden since she was 13 and continues to pursue a competitive career in horseback riding specializing in show jumping. Anneka’s biggest dream to own her own horse came true in November of 2022. Anneka is the proud owner (and self-proclaimed mother) of an eight-year-old, off-the-track thoroughbred named Betcha!

When she’s not working or riding, Anneka can be found nose deep in a book, sketching, or watching her favorite web series for hours on end.
