About Alana:

Alana Brophy leads the ABC4 Utah Pinpoint Weather team as Chief Meteorologist, and joined the ABC4 Utah team in December of 2014 as a reporter and weekend forecaster on the ABC4 Utah Pinpoint Weather team.

Alana’s love of the four seasons and climate led her to further pursue her weather education at Mississippi State University where she studied meteorology. While focusing on her continued education, she also had the chance to report on Utah’s most important weather stories including Utah’s deadliest flooding disaster in Hildale, flash flooding at Zion National Park, low water levels at Lake Powell and the Great Salt Lake, the Brianhead wildfire and an abundance of winter storms. (including snow in St. George!)

Alana also traveled extensively through our state on our road tour series, reporting on her second favorite topic, Utah’s outdoors. From skiing and snowmobiling to hiking and biking, her experience with the ABC4 Road Tour allowed her to get an in depth understanding of Utah’s geography and a unique understanding of how storms interact with our various mountain ranges and valleys.

Alana is an award-winning meteorologist, who before joining ABC4 Utah, spent time forecasting, reporting and anchoring in Boise, Idaho. She took home a regional Emmy for field anchoring a morning newscast, after spending two years forecasting on the KBOI Weather Team. Alana’s personality and passion have always pointed to weather, as she started her television career as a weekend forecaster in our very own, St. George, Utah. It’s there she fell in love with the southern portion of our state, and forecasting among the red rocks was something she just couldn’t pass up after graduation from Gonzaga University.

While in the desert, Alana covered Washington County’s extreme heat and headed up a crime series, “The Tri-State Crime Stoppers,” which helped apprehend numerous fugitives within the community, and earned her a Community Partnership Award from the Washington City Police.

Alana’s family is originally from Staten Island, New York, but moved to Northern Utah. Alana is also a proud graduate of Judge Memorial High School, and has an awesome older brother who can always be counted on to bring home the gold from Special Olympics, and a wonderful and supportive older sister.

Anyone who knows Alana would likely say she is mostly sunny, and loves to laugh. She and her husband are thrilled to call Northern Utah home. In their free time, you can catch the couple outdoors either skiing or fly fishing. They also spending time with family, supporting the Special Olympics (Go Warriors!), cheering on Gonzaga basketball and Chicago Blackhawks hockey and walking their two dogs, Teddy and Radar!
