Alana Brophy is thrilled to be back on the Wasatch Front! She joined the ABC4 Utah team in December of 2014 as a reporter and weekend forecaster on the ABC4 Utah Pinpoint Weather team.
Alana is an award winning journalist who before joining ABC4 Utah, spent the last five years anchoring, reporting and forecasting in Boise, Idaho. She took home a regional Emmy for field anchoring a morning newscast, spent her summers reporting from wildfire lines and closely followed and reported on the return of captured Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. While news is something Alana enjoys, her personality and passion point to the weather. She spent two of her five years in Boise as part of the weather team.
She also started her television career as a weekend forecaster in St. George, Utah. Alana knows Utah’s Dixie well and loved being able to spend time in the southern portion of the state. The opportunity to forecast among the red rock was something she just couldn’t pass up after graduation from Gonzaga University.
While in the desert, Alana covered stories from the local polygamist reaction to the El Dorado raid to the opening of the Donnie and Marie Osmond Show in Las Vegas. She also headed up the crime series, “The Tri-State Crime Stoppers,” which helped apprehend numerous fugitives within the community, and earned her a Community Partnership Award from the Washington City Police.
Alana’s family is originally from Staten Island, New York. They now live in Bountiful, Utah. Alana is also a proud graduate of Judge Memorial High School. She has an awesome older brother who can always be counted on to bring home the gold from Special Olympics, and a wonderful and supportive older sister.
Alana loves to laugh and in her free time, enjoys hanging out with her family, reading, swimming and cheering on the Gonzaga bulldogs during college basketball season!
She is very excited to be home and proud to be part of the ABC4 Utah team.
