SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Sports) - Randy Foye has played in the NBA for six seasons, and he had never received a welcoming from the media like he did Wednesday night at the Salt Lake International Airport.

"This is special," said Foye, who signed a 1-year, $2.5 million dollar free agent contract. "This is cool. Three cameras, all you guys, I appreciate it, thanks."

Foye had several teams from which to pick, but decided on Utah because he feels the Jazz are a playoff team right now.

"To me, it's not all about where you live," said Foye. "It's about basketball, and the team that has the best opportunity out of the teams that I was looking at was the Utah Jazz. They're a playoff team, definitely. It was just a no-brainer for me and my wife."

Foye helped the Los Angeles Clippers get back to the playoffs, shooting 40 percent from 3-point land after taking over as a starting guard when Chauncey Billups was lost to an injury. But it's not just his shooting that will help the Jazz.

"I just feel as though I could bring a lot of toughness on the defensive end," he said. "I'm just excited to get out there and help these guys win."

Foye is also looking forward to a reunion with two of the Jazz starters, having played with Al Jefferson in Minnesota and Mo Williams with the Clippers.

"I played with Big Al for two years and I played with Mo for two years, so I'm familiar with those guys," Foye said.

Foye will be formally introduced to the media at a press conference Thursday.
