SANDY, Utah (ABC-4 Sports) - Following the red card he received in last week's 4-2 win over FC Dallas, Real Salt Lake head coach Jason Kreis has been suspended for two games and fined $3500.
Normally, a coach that receives a red card is suspended for just one game and fined $500, but because this is the third time this season Kreis has been suspended, the MLS disciplinary committee decided to come down hard on him.
Kreis will not be allowed on the sidelines for tomorrow's game at Chicago and for next Saturday's home game against Seattle. Kreis also will not be allowed go have radio contact with any of his assistant coaches.
Kreis erupted in the 73rd minute against Dallas following a hand ball call on Chris Wingert that resulted in a penalty kick.
Robin Fraser will take over the head coaching duties for both games.
