Real Salt Lake is peaking at just the right time. RSL hasn't lost a game in almost two months, and they have a 7-game unbeaten streak headed into their Western Conference Final against the New York Red Bulls.
Even though the Red Bulls were an even bigger underdog to make the playoffs, RSL has never beaten New York in their four years of existence. Real is 0-2-6 against the team from the Big Apple, including a 1-1 draw in the first ever game at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Only two players on the Real Salt Lake team have ever won an MLS Cup. Nick Rimando and Dema Kovalenko both won the championship with DC United in 2004. Head coach Jason Kreis never made it to the MLS Cup during his 12-year playing career, and knows the opportunity facing his team is a rare one.
Real Salt Lake and New York kickoff the game at 7:30 at Rio Tinto Stadium. The winner will face either Columbus or Chicago for the title on November 23rd in Southern California.
