HOUSTON (ABC 4 Sports) - Real Salt Lake's Javier Morales and Jamison Olave started for the MLS All-Star team, while RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando played the entire second half as the MLS stars lost to Manchester United, 5-2.
Olave started the game on defense and played the entire first half, while Morales was substituted in the 63rd minute after getting off two shots on goal. Rimando came into the game at the start of the second half, and despite making four saves, Rimando gave up three goals as Manchester United pulled away for the victory.
Brian Ching and Dwayne De Rosario scored the goals for the MLS all-stars, while Mexican sensation Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez scored twice in his Man-U debut. Federico Macheda scored twice as well, including a goal just 24 seconds into the game to give Manchester United the early lead. Tom Cleverley also scored for the Red Devils, who pulled off the largest margin of victory since the MLS All-Star game adapted this format.
The crowd of 70,728 at Reliant Stadium was the largest crowd ever to see an MLS All-Star game.
Real Salt Lake (9-4-4) returns to MLS play Saturday night at home against D.C. United.
