Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Reigning Calder Trophy recipient Gabriel Landeskog will miss the Colorado Avalanche's matchup at Edmonton on Monday due to injuries to his head and leg.

Landeskog was hurt on a check by San Jose defenseman Brad Stuart during Saturday's 4-0 loss to the Sharks, though the Colorado captain did return to the contest after sitting out a portion of the first period.

The 20-year-old Swede, the No. 2 overall selection of the 2011 draft, was named the NHL's top rookie following a terrific 2011-12 season in which he amassed 20 goals and 30 points while producing a plus-20 rating.

Landeskog had managed just one goal over Colorado's first four games of this season, but was a plus-three over that stretch.
